Car hire problems often start before collection
A car-hire booking can look complete while leaving uncertainty around deposit amount, card rules, driver age, licence requirements, fuel policy, extras and damage process.
Check the payment card and deposit
Make sure the lead driver has the correct card type, available limit and matching name. A cheap booking can fail at the desk if the deposit rule is not met.
Check extras before arrival
Child seats, additional drivers, cross-border use, one-way hire, late pickup and insurance wording can change the final cost or suitability. Do not leave these until the queue.
Check collection evidence
Plan to photograph or video the vehicle, fuel level, mileage and any damage before leaving. Keep paperwork and return evidence until the booking is fully closed.
