Quick answer
Office-chair assembly can depend on packaging size, part weight, tool requirements and the clarity of the current manual. Check these before ordering if setup time, lifting or returns would be difficult.
Before delivery
- Check box dimensions and delivery-to-room rules.
- Check whether the chair arrives flat-packed, partly assembled or assembled.
- Review the current assembly manual if the retailer or manufacturer provides one.
- Check whether tools are included or whether a screwdriver, Allen key or other tool is needed.
- Plan where the packaging will be opened so parts are not dragged across the floor.
Parts and support checks
- Check the parts list for wheels, gas lift, base, seat, backrest, arms and fixings.
- Check whether armrests, headrests or lumbar pads are optional pieces.
- Check how the retailer handles missing parts or damage on arrival.
- Keep packaging until the chair has been checked against the order and manual.
- Confirm return terms before assembly if the chair may need to go back.
What not to assume
Do not assume every chair takes the same time to assemble. Larger chairs, heavier bases, awkward screws, extra arms or unclear instructions can change the job.
What this guide does not cover
This guide does not provide installation advice, a safety assessment or a promised assembly time. Follow the current manufacturer instructions and contact the retailer or manufacturer if parts, tools or steps are unclear.
