Installation friction changes the best choice

A dash cam that records well on paper can still be the wrong choice if the mount, cable route or power setup does not fit your car. Check installation needs before choosing between front-only, front/rear and parking-mode-focused routes.

Mount and visibility checks

  • Check whether the mount is suction, adhesive or integrated.
  • Check screen size and whether it could distract you.
  • Confirm the camera can sit without blocking your view.
  • Check whether the windscreen area has sensors or trim that limit placement.

Power and cable checks

Check whether the dash cam uses USB, 12V socket power or a hardwire kit. If you want parking mode, confirm what extra hardware is required and whether professional installation is sensible for your car.

Front/rear checks

Rear cameras add cable routing and fitting complexity. Check cable length, connector type, rear-window access and whether your car shape makes rear placement awkward.

Boundary

This checklist is not installation advice, legal advice or an insurance outcome claim. Confirm placement, wiring and use with the current product instructions and any relevant professional installer guidance.
