Pick 1

First comparison point

Best central-stand 65-inch OLED footprint

LG OLED evo AI C6 OLED65C65LA 65-inch 4K TV

Verdict

LG OLED65C65LA measures 1441 x 880 x 230 mm with its 470 x 230 mm central stand and weighs 18.4 kg installed; furniture still needs the correct width, depth, load and stability.

Highlights

  • LG publishes a compact 470 x 230 mm central stand footprint for the exact 65-inch OLED.

Drawbacks

  • The narrow central stand does not remove the need to check furniture load and stability.

Buyer fit

Best for

  • A central-stand 65-inch OLED footprint.

Not for you if

  • Furniture that cannot support 18.4 kg or the 470 x 230 mm stand.

Check before buying

  • Measure width, height, depth and stand footprint; confirm VESA, furniture load, viewing distance, delivery, warranty and returns.

Pick 2

Best low-weight 65-inch Mini LED setup

Samsung UE65M80HAUXXU 65-inch 4K Mini LED TV, John Lewis product 115162994, GTIN 8806099005542

Verdict

Samsung UE65M80HAUXXU is listed at 1444.1 x 882.2 x 222 mm and 14.3 kg with stand, but its 1004.6 mm-wide feet demand a substantially wider support surface than LG's central pedestal.

Highlights

  • The exact 65-inch model is officially listed at 14.3 kg with its stand.

Drawbacks

  • The feet span 1004.6 mm, much wider than a central pedestal.

Buyer fit

Best for

  • A low-weight 65-inch Mini LED setup.

Not for you if

  • Narrow furniture that cannot support a 1004.6 mm stand width.

Check before buying

  • Measure stand width/depth and set dimensions; confirm VESA, load, viewing distance, delivery, warranty and returns.

Pick 3

Best 65-inch four-HDMI Google TV setup

Sony BRAVIA 2 II K65S25M2PB.UKA 65-inch 4K LED TV, John Lewis product 115196145, GTIN 4548736180314

Verdict

Sony K65S25M2PB.UKA is 1447 x 846 x 83 mm without its stand and 1447 x 904 x 327 mm installed; conflicting retailer VESA fields mean the exact Sony installation document must control mounting.

Highlights

  • The exact 65-inch Google TV configuration has stable three-axis dimensions and a four-HDMI setup.

Drawbacks

  • Published retailer VESA fields conflict, so the bracket pattern must be checked against Sony's exact installation document.

Buyer fit

Best for

  • A 65-inch four-HDMI Google TV setup.

Not for you if

  • Installation without checking the exact Sony bracket document.

Check before buying

  • Measure 1447 x 904 x 327 mm with stand; verify exact VESA directly with Sony; confirm furniture load, delivery, warranty and returns.

Pick 4

QLED option with stand checks

TCL 65P8K-UK 65-inch 4K QLED TV, John Lewis product 115171153, GTIN 5901292526283

Verdict

TCL 65P8K-UK is a 65-inch QLED alternative, but published stand depth, width and weight conflict. Confirm the supplied stand before choosing it for a tight cabinet.

Highlights

  • The exact 65P8K-UK provides a 65-inch QLED comparison option.

Drawbacks

  • Published stand depth, width and weight conflict across sources; obtain confirmation for the supplied stand before relying on furniture fit.

Buyer fit

Best for

  • A 65-inch QLED comparison with installation checks resolved before purchase.

Not for you if

  • A narrow surface without confirming the supplied stand position.

Check before buying

  • Ask for the exact supplied-stand footprint and weight: published depths include both 295 mm and 320 mm, and retailer width fields disagree. Confirm furniture support, VESA, delivery, warranty and returns.

Choose this if / Avoid this if

Rule out poor-fit options before comparing finer details.

Avoid if

  • Furniture or wall cannot support the stated size and load
  • Delivery access is not measured
  • You need an installation guarantee from this editorial page

Dealbreakers

  • Dimensions belong to another size
  • Stand placement cannot be confirmed
  • A conflicting VESA field is used without the exact maker installation document

Check before buying

  • Confirm exact 65-inch model
  • Measure room furniture width and depth
  • Confirm furniture load and supplied stand position
  • Verify VESA where unambiguous
  • Check viewing distance and delivery access
  • Recheck warranty returns and installation terms

Choose another shortlist if

  • Use the broad route when connection setup decides first
  • Use the energy route when a controlled 50-inch label comparison matters
  • Use the QLED route when exact QLED designation is required

Detailed buyer guidance

A 65-inch label is only the start

Screen diagonal does not tell you cabinet fit, installed depth, feet spacing or delivery access. This route compares exact 65-inch configurations through three-axis dimensions and exposes fields that need a direct installation check rather than assuming all large televisions occupy the same space.

Who this is for

This route is for buyers already committed to a 65-inch screen who need to choose between central and wide stands, different installed depths and different loads. It suits households willing to measure furniture, access routes and seating before opening a product page.

Who this is not for

It is not a picture-quality ranking or wall-installation instruction. It is unsuitable when screen size is still undecided, a cabinet has not been measured, or a disputed mounting field would be accepted without the exact manufacturer document.

Quick decision

  • LG OLED65C65LA: start with the 470 x 230 mm central stand when the 1441 x 880 x 230 mm installed footprint and 18.4 kg load fit.
  • Samsung UE65M80HAUXXU: choose the lighter 14.3 kg setup only when its 1004.6 mm-wide feet fit the support surface.
  • Sony K65S25M2PB.UKA: choose four HDMI and Google TV when 1447 x 904 x 327 mm fits and the exact Sony mounting document can be checked.
  • TCL 65P8K-UK: compare this 65-inch QLED only after the seller confirms the supplied-stand footprint and weight for your furniture.

Compare the furniture footprint first

LG’s central stand is the clearest starting point for furniture planning. The panel is 1441 x 826 x 45.1 mm without stand and 1441 x 880 x 230 mm installed. The central support occupies 470 x 230 mm, while weight rises from 16.6 to 18.4 kg with stand. Confirm the cabinet load rating and anti-tip arrangements rather than reading a narrow pedestal as proof of safety.

Samsung is slightly wider and taller installed at 1444.1 x 882.2 x 222 mm, but weighs only 14.3 kg with stand. Its key constraint is the 1004.6 mm stand width. A cabinet may be deep and strong enough yet still too narrow for the feet. The documented VESA is 200 x 200, but wall construction, fasteners and professional guidance remain outside this page.

Sony is the deepest installed option here at 327 mm and reaches 904 mm tall with the stand. The no-stand dimensions are 1447 x 846 x 83 mm and weight is 19.7 kg, rising to 20 kg installed. Retail sources conflict on its VESA pattern, so no numeric VESA claim is made. Check Sony’s exact installation document and the supplied model before buying any bracket.

TCL’s installation figures need clarification. Retained manufacturer evidence lists 320mm depth with stand, while Richer Sounds lists 295mm. The exact John Lewis listing also shows conflicting width fields of 1229mm and 1444mm, and published weights differ. These discrepancies were observed on 5 September 2026. Ask the retailer or manufacturer to confirm the supplied-stand footprint and weight before ordering for a tight cabinet; neither a refresh-rate headline nor screen diagonal resolves furniture fit.

Plan delivery and viewing distance

Measure doors, turns, stairs and lift access using packaged dimensions from the live seller, not the bare-TV figures above. Confirm unpacking and installation responsibility, packaging removal and return handling for a large panel. Then pressure-test seating distance, reflected windows, soundbar clearance, HDMI and eARC access, aerial position and cable routes.

Known limitations

UK Shortlists has not installed or weighed these units. Published dimensions can use different axis orders, rounding and stand configurations, so match the exact suffix and diagram. The Sony VESA conflict is intentionally unresolved rather than guessed. Stock, price, delivery, wall assessment, warranty, returns and installation services remain live checks.

What would change the selection

A pick returns to hold if exact dimensions, supplied stand or current destination changes. The primary would change if another exact 65-inch model supplied a clearer, stable furniture footprint with equally strong evidence; picture claims or temporary discounts would not be enough.

When another role fits better

The first option is a useful starting point, not a universal winner. Move another role ahead when its use case, fit or ownership trade-offs match you better.

How we chose

The checks behind the four picks

We required exact three-axis dimensions for each 65-inch configuration and exposed stand, load and mounting boundaries. Roles describe physical setup differences rather than price or picture quality.

  • Step 2: Three-axis dimensions
  • Step 3: Stand footprint and placement
  • Step 4: Published weight
  • Step 5: VESA only where unambiguous

FAQs & alternatives

Is every 65-inch TV the same width?

No. These four are close but their height depth stand placement and weight differ materially.

Does a central stand make a TV safe for any cabinet?

No. Cabinet dimensions load rating stability and restraint still require checking.

What VESA pattern does the Sony use?

Retailer fields conflict

Also consider

  • Choose a smaller public route when delivery or furniture fit fails
  • Keep an existing screen and change seating or audio when size is not the real problem
