Resin 3D-Printing Workspace and Post-Processing Checklist

Do not compare resin printers as if the printer is the whole purchase. The usable outcome depends on the material, wash, cure, handling, storage and waste workflow around it.

1. Collect exact documents

For the exact resin, cleaning product and machine, collect:

• current label and manufacturer instructions;
• current safety data sheet where one is supplied or required;
• storage temperature and container instructions;
• spill, contact and emergency information;
• washing and curing instructions;
• waste and disposal instructions.

The HSE safety-data-sheet guidance explains that a sheet describes hazards, handling, storage and emergency measures. It also states that the sheet is not a risk assessment.

2. Draw the workflow on the room

Mark a place for:

1. sealed material storage;
2. printing and part removal;
3. washing equipment and cleaning product;
4. curing equipment;
5. tools and any protective equipment specified by current instructions or an assessment;
6. contaminated consumables and waste;
7. completed parts away from the active work area.

If these stages cannot stay controlled and separated from normal living activity, compare a service or supervised makerspace before buying equipment.

3. Treat exposure control as a separate decision

For workplace use, the HSE COSHH assessment guidance says to identify harmful substances from labels and safety data sheets, consider how people may be exposed, and control the process at source where needed. A generic room description cannot establish what is appropriate for a particular process.

Home buyers should still follow the exact machine and material instructions and avoid transferring advice from a different resin, cleaning product or setup.

4. Compare the complete setup

Record the exact identity and current UK destination for:

• printer;
• wash and cure equipment;
• material and cleaning products;
• storage containers and tools;
• manufacturer-specified replacement parts and consumables.

Omit volatile price and availability claims from the long-term decision. Check the live delivered total and terms at checkout.

Stop points

Pause the equipment comparison if:

• the material or cleaning-product instructions cannot be found;
• the workspace has not been assessed for the complete workflow;
• storage, washing, curing or waste is being improvised;
• the intended part has a safety-critical or regulated use that needs specialist input;
• business use introduces workplace or product-supply duties you have not resolved.
