How we check DIY information

See the evidence behind the DIY answer

Every source has a jurisdiction, scope and review date. We compare model numbers with manufacturer information and published recalls before naming a product, rather than relying on a broad marketplace search.

What a product must prove

A manufacturer listing is a starting point, not a recommendation

Before a product earns a place in a Top 4, we match the model and package, find the corresponding UK product page, check published OPSS alerts and make sure each option serves a genuinely different buyer. If those checks are incomplete, we explain how to choose without naming that product as one of the four.
