Use this before choosing the airport route
Early flights with children can fail on timing rather than the flight itself: parking transfer, bag drop, security, hotel checkout, shuttle timing, pushchair handling, tired travellers and return collection all matter.
This checklist helps you choose what to check before booking parking, an airport hotel-with-parking package, lounge access or arrival-side car hire. It is not a guarantee that any option will make the trip easy.
Pre-booking checks
- Work backwards from the airline bag-drop and airport arrival guidance, then add realistic family movement time.
- Decide whether home-to-airport driving, airport parking, hotel-with-parking or public transport is the least fragile route.
- Check luggage, pushchair, child-seat, snack, medication and document needs before choosing parking or hotel options.
- Check terminal coverage, walking distance, shuttle frequency, key handover, hotel checkout and return-collection wording.
- Keep the arrival-side plan separate: airport pickup, car hire, transfers or public transport may have their own child-seat and luggage constraints.
Compare the fragile points
The best-looking option is not always the least fragile. A hotel package can reduce the morning drive but add parking handover complexity. Park-and-ride can be cheaper-looking but add shuttle timing. Meet-and-greet can reduce walking but needs careful key and return-process checks.
List the failure points before opening provider pages, then compare current terms against those failure points before payment.
